Thinking Activity by Mahendrasinh Parmar of two story.

Hello readers, today I have appeared among you with two nice Gujarati short stories written by Mahendrasinh Parmar.  He is currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Gujarati at Bhavnagar University.  This task is given by Professor Dilipsar Barde of our English Department.  Follow the link below to follow the story.

What impressions does these short stories create in your mind ?

The first story seems to me to reflect the reality prevailing in the society.  In particular, the author has drawn our attention to the works that are done in the name of religion.  We have been hearing that uneducated people believe in religion.  People who have heard of something that hurts have followed religion.  But who knows what religion is?  Even those who are educated believe in religion.  I would like to mention that this story has been written with reference to the current education.  Religion is one of the obstacles.  Because people give more importance to religion than education. If the same amount of money is spent on education then India will be in the first place in the world.  There are certain religious issues in the society which cannot be removed even by a good teacher.  And finally he also lays down his arms and stands up to fight against that society.  Which is in fact the shaper of society.  Being a good man is a danger sign in this society.  S.P.  Singh is doing his job as a good officer.  But they also lose out on religion.  Because even one of their sons is ruining his life by following the path of religion.  And finally Professor Dhorajia, Sharad and Dabhi etc. themselves were against religion.  But with a little power and greed, they too began to follow religion.  The shock of which S.P.  The horn felt too much.  Because religion is blinding everyone.  In which even the educated people are not left.  Religion rejects true and good men and turns everyone against it.

Are you able to identify contemporary events? If you are able to identify the events, think of what may be your reaction to the events?

There have been a lot of incidents like the ones in this story even in contemporary times.  Even educated people became believers in religion.  Because Corona's disease caused such an outcry that people's faith and trust in God increased.  The poor, the rich, the government employees, the private employees were all at home.  Education stopped completely.  And it can still be said to be closed.  But the lockdown for the elections is not a walk, not a corona walk.  If only education is given to the children, it will become a corona.  From which we can say that even in the present times negligence towards education is shown.  People in politics think that education is not necessary.  But it is more important if elections are to be held.  The disease is also associated with religion, as well as gender.  Such as when Muslims gather to pray.  Then those people are removed with sticks. They are beaten by the police.  On the other hand, when the Kumbh Mela is held in Haridwar, millions of devotees come to pay their respects.  Along with the police, big political leaders are also involved.  Which leads us to the blind pursuit of religion.  It is convincing that education has not grown.

Intellectual Indubhai :

It's story of Indubhai. He was teacher. As teacher he was very honest and kind person. He doesn't allowed students to do cheating in exams. So he was  very honest and moral person. He was very intellectual person that's why he known as intellectual Indubhai. He has read many books. He was very knowledgeable person.

Double meaning of intellectual :

Here writer satires on the political leaders who has great intellectual power by speaking on any subject in four to five languages. So he satirise on the political leaders.Another meaning of intellectual is the person who have great knowledge of things. Indubhai has great knowledge of literature. He was not only intellectual but also emotional person.

This story was also about suffering of intellectual people. It also highlight the Western thinkers like Nietzsche, Darwin, Milton, Karl Marx, Rilke and Louis Pasteur. Also it describes the Indian literature like Mahabharat , Ramayana etc. Indubhai also teach humanism to the students in his lectures. He talked about thoughts of Gandhiji and other great thinkers.

Are you able to identify contemporary events? If you are able to identify the events, think of what may be your reaction to the events?

The other thing is you have shown political leaders through the internet.  Which have been applauded by knowledge.  That they have not read a single book.  However, today the management of the whole country is in his hands. They are wise, they make external pretensions.  When it comes to making decisions when their knowledge is of no use.  They cause quarrels between the two com.  The country causes quarrels between countries.  Which makes people living together fight with each other.  This is what the states of every country do.  No one walks against it.  Be it big educated professors, or individuals with big posts.  Once the government has made a decision, no one is involved.  It has to work that way.  Can also abuse the power in their own hands.  Like sheep all people follow him too.  Which we see in the current situation.  Someone told us to light a lamp, play a plate, and without thinking, everyone lit lamps and played plates.  Why should a lamp be lit?  Why should plates be played?  Without questioning anyone's mind, everyone followed like a sheep.

How far do you agree with the truth of those events and the imaginative truth narrated in these short stories?

Yes, I agree with the events of this author and his imagination is also reasonable.  The events of both these stories can be seen in the life we live.  There are many states and villages in which such incidents happen to us.  Some are rioting in the name of religion, some are rioting in the name of politicians.  In which education is discredited.  What is not taught in education.  Many chapters are also changed in education.  Who can create people who see religion and politics as they are.  And this tradition is already going on and is still going on.
