                         Introduction 

William Sydney Porter, better known by his pen name O. Henry, was an American short story writer. Porter was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. He moved to Texas in 1882, where he met his wife, Athol Estes, with whom he had two children.

"The Gift of the Magi" is a short story by O. Henry first published in 1905. The story tells of a young husband and wife and how they deal with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with very little money.

   The Gift of the Magi is  Story  about married couple and how they deal with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other.

   In this story husband and wife belongs to poor family. And on the new year both want to give new things for their loving person with poor money. Both are sacrifice their own favorite thing because of their love. So, it is beautiful story about true love. The plot of story and it's twice ending are well known and the ending is generally considered an example of comic Irony.
